Candidate Profile

MRI Technicians at OCR perform diagnostic testing by taking images of patients’ bodies using computerized MRI scanners. They provide quality images for comprehensive patient care. 


A successful MRI Tech possesses excellent communication skills and demonstrates exceptional patient care through their ability to explain the MRI process to patients. They are expected to maintain patient confidentiality; productivity levels; and perform their daily duties with accuracy, attention to detail, and in a manner that promotes an excellent patient experience.   


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions and adjust equipment as needed; view images to ensure quality of pictures; and communicates with Radiologist as required
  • Prepare patients for imaging process by explaining the process, taking medical histories, and completing patient screening forms. Other preparation steps may be required including properly positioning/placing patients and assisting disabled patients as needed
  • Monitor patients during imaging process for safety and comfort 
  • Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoot issues if they arise 
  • Perform necessary data entry to document appointment, to include anatomical area scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into MRI equipment 
Requirements
  • Associate’s degree from a certified Radiologic Technology program 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of imaging procedures – orthopaedic experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar applications 
  • Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation; ability and willingness to travel to multiple locations. 

Required Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Current and valid certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) 
  • Current and valid MRI Technology certification 
  • Current CPR certification 


Work Environment 

This position works in a typical medical environment. There are regular interruptions and significant distractions to work including, but not limited to: phones ringing; staff walking by; patients to attend to; noisy conversations that carry; and answering questions asked by others. The person in this position must frequently communicate with patients, doctors, coworkers, and others verbally as well as utilizing various equipment such as telephones, cell phones, text/instant messaging, email, and other means.


This position frequently moves around the clinic for up to 8 hours a day; and frequently assists patients in turning, as well as both rising from and returning to exam tables, beds, and/or wheelchairs. This position also frequently pushes wheelchairs and must be able to move or lift up to 50 pounds.

Salary Description
$34.00 - $50.00/hour, commensurate with experience
